My bio is below.
But what I am now doing, I have a passion for and that is investing in commercial real estate. I love it. But still very young in the game. Began two years ago by attending a real estate seminar (who doesn't these days); was hooked on the concept of real estate being my financial means to a better life. Both my wife (Mary Jane) and I are both hooked on real estate (also been married for 15 years / 4 kids, all are exceptional!).
My favorite book (besides the Holy Bible) is the "Art of the Deal". Well, everyone knows who wrote that book. I'll probably read it again for the 3rd time this year.
Currently have a commercial deal under contract in Sioux City IA. If this deal goes through then I am on the way in wealth building. I see a lot of big deals here and I am quite excited about it.
Currently work for Royal Canin, a subsidiary of the MARS Corporation in North Sioux City, SD. Going on 3 years. Was suppose to be a temporary job. Great company and people but too brutal of a job with zero upward mobility. Need to move on.
Recently retired out of the Army National Guard with cumulative 20 years of active and reserve time (active Navy - submarine service) and (National Guard deployments - homeland and overseas). Best of all that is learning to be organized and being on time. And to be able to eat MREs.
Did wildland firefighting back in Northern CA. I thought that was going to be my career. Attended and graduated from the best Fire Academy in the country at Butte College in Oroville, CA. But instead took a job as an Army National Guard Recruiter in 2005 (height of Iraqi conflict). Brutal job. Went to Afghanistan in 2006 (easier there than being a recruiter in CA!).
Graduated California Chico State Univ. in 1993 with a degree in History. Hung around after that and studied Town Planning (City Planning) and have 20 graduate units to show for it. Way too much politics and socialism involved with people in this category. But it did begin a good understanding of real estate from the City's view points.
Attended Los Medanos Community College 84-86, AA degree. Should have studied real estate instead. My dad owned rentals at the time but was turned off by it; having to clean up the properties after the tenants moved out; quite disgusting.
Graduated Liberty High in 1984 in Brentwood CA, the heart of the Reagan years.
So, from current to last. Been all over the country. Moved out to the mid-west from CA because I heard the weather was better out here (just kidding). News flash (CA is going down in many ways and I did not want to be around when it hits rock bottom). Nice weather though.
Final thought. I plan on becoming a Deacon in the Catholic Church here in Sioux City. Many people in need of help in the spiritual sense everywhere. So much to do and life is so short. Time to get busy!
